Richard Illgen

Board member

A long-time Berkeley resident and social justice attorney, Richard has spent his entire career, ensuring that the local government is accountable and effective in addressing community safety, health, environmental, and social equity needs.

As a board member of Just Cities, Richard has served as the consulting lawyer for the Fair Chance Housing Ordinance that passed in Oakland and Berkeley. He is currently assisting local East Bay cities in designing and implementing COVID protections to preserve small businesses and protect housing and transitional needs for vulnerable and at-risk residents.

Richard is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Golden Gate University School of Law.
