Our Initiatives
Transformative Relationships for Racial Justice
Problem
As Just Cities leader John Jones always says, “transformation only comes from close proximity.” However, growing racial and income segregation of our neighborhoods and schools means that we don’t know one another. And if we don’t know one another, then we don’t care about each other’s suffering.
SOLUTION
Just Cities convenes all of us to care about the people most impacted by racial injustice, centers their leadership, and moves the collective towards concrete solutions. Examples include:
Fair Chance Housing Coalition that includes the racial and cultural diversity and collective power of All of Us or None, Sierra Club, TechEquity Collaborative, League of Women Voters, and many more.
Black Tech for Black Lives that convenes over 1,000 Black tech leaders and their allies to partner with grassroots Black-led solutions to police violence and racial injustice.
Beloved Community Action Network that brings together over 25 low income tenant, homeowner, faith, labor, government officials, and tech organizations representing over 4,000 people to create anti-displacement solutions.
Beloved Oakland a biannual event that gathers old and new Oaklanders to celebrate what makes Oakland, Oakland--the rich social justice history, racial diversity, and music from the soul. Beloved Oakland raises funds for community-based racial justice innovations.
